In Newham accredited pharmacies can provide FREE Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea testing kits to people between the ages of 16- 25yrs.
A discreet Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea test kit can be offered to young people purchasing condoms, when oral contraceptive pills are dispensed and supplied to patients and when supplying EHC. Advice on how to utilise the kit, how to return it for testing and what will happen following completion of the test will be provided. Our fully trained Pharmacist and pharmacy staff can provide support and advice to people accessing the service, including advice on safe sex, condom use and advice on the use of regular contraceptive methods, when required.
Utilising the kit is simple. We need a urine sample in the container provided. Once you’re done, return the test to the Pharmacy in the discreet packet provided with your personal details filled in. We also have facilities for you to provide the sample to us at the pharmacy. You will be asked to select how you would like to be notified for the results, i.e. by phone or text message.
Newmans Pharmacy will send off your samples and you will be contacted directly within two weeks by the laboratory with your results.

We are now able to receive your prescription details electronically straight from your doctors surgery, by scanning the barcode along the side. Don't worry, you will still have the green prescription form but this is a fast and more accurate way for us to produce your prescription.

Emergency hormonal contraception also known as the "morning after pill" is available with or without a prescription.
If you have had sex without using contraception, or you think your contraception has failed, you may be able to use Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC). The emergency contraceptive pill is most effective if it is taken as soon as possible after you have had unprotected intercourse, but can be taken up to 72hours afterwards.
Every consultation is private and confidential and will be in a private consultation room. Our fully trained and accredited Pharmacist will supply EHC when appropriate to clients in line with the requirements of a locally agreed Patient Group Direction (PGD). In Newham the emergency hormonal contraception, an accredited pharmacist can assess, advice and if protocol indicates, provide EHC to all women between ages 13-24yrs, FREE of charge under a PGD. Women above the age of 24yrs are able to buy EHC after a similar consultation. Both of our pharmacies offer a Pregnancy Testing Service for a small fee. This is a strictly private and confidential service which is carried out by trained staff, who can signpost/refer you to other health professionals, if necessary.
Why not make life easier for yourself and let us order your prescription on your behalf.
This involves retaining the white repeat slip normally attached to your green prescription, which has a list of all your medication, at the pharmacy. Simply let us know what repeat medicines you need, a few days before they run out, either in person, by phone, fax or email and we will arrange to collect it from your Doctor's surgery. We go daily to all our local GP surgeries. When we have collected your prescription it will be dispensed and waiting for you to collect at the pharmacy. This will save you having to make a separate journey to the surgery and prevent you having to wait in the pharmacy for your prescription to be dispensed. This process takes approximately three working days from the time you order your repeat prescription with Newmans Pharmacy.
Not only can we collect your prescription from the surgery on your behalf, we can also offer to deliver your medication to your home. We provide a FREE local home delivery service for customers who are housebound or live in warden-controlled accommodation or for local patients, who are unable to pick up their medication, so please contact us for more information.

We see patients in clinic at the pharmacy and we carry out a domiciliary clinic where we see house bound patients at their home. The warfarin monitoring service has been developed in conjunction with Newham CCG and Newham University Hospital Trust.
Who is Eligible for treatment and what is the process?
Any patient registered with a Newham GP on warfarin requires anticoagulation monitoring. Any patient taking warfarin, can choose to have their INR levels monitored by Newmans Pharmacy by registering with us in store.
